The Cascadia 16 shoe is the newest version of the Brooks trail running shoe. This shoe has a 8 millimeter drop and is available in men’s and women’s sizing with 15 total colorways. Brooks claims this is a smoother and lighter version of their iconic trail shoe.
Brooks has updated the midsole and outsole of this shoe for improved performance. They have added more release grooves in the midsole for added adaptability. The midsole now features DNA LOFT v2 which Brooks shares is 5% softer and 20% lighter than the Cascadia 15. The outsole has TrailTrack rubber which provides traction in wet or dry conditions. There is now an updated Ballistic Rock Shield to protect you from debris while running. The Ballistic shield features vertical grooves to maintain side-to-side adaptability.
The reviews for this shoe are mostly positive. Customers found the shoe to be comfortable. They liked the wide toe box and found they had good traction even in wet conditions. Negative reviews were mainly from long-time Cascadia users who preferred previous iterations of the shoe. Customers complained that this version is less comfortable and less durable. Multiple customers complained that the inside lining was tearing.
