The ASICS Metaspeed Sky+ is the second iteration of the road-racing shoe made to push the pace and achieve personal best times. The Metaspeed Sky+ is a neutral support shoe with maximal cushioning. This shoe is light at 7.2 ounces and has a heel drop of 5 millimeters.
ASICS recommends these shoes for fast paced stride-style runners who increase their speed by lengthening their stride. The new and improved design has a lighter upper and a new midsole designed to improve the toe-off phase of running. The Metaspeed Sky+ combined a curved sole design with a carbon plate to help propel your foot forward and conserve energy throughout your run. The shoe features FLYTE FOAM (FF) BLAST TURBO cushioning with improved compression and responsiveness. There is also ASICSGRIP outsole rubber for durability and grip.
Customers found these shoes very fast. Many people reported personal best times in their reviews. They found that you could feel the shoe propelling you forward while you ran and their legs felt great during and after their runs. Negative reviews found that the shoes were not durable. They had issues with the sole wearing out after a couple runs around the heel. When they reached out to ASICS they were informed that the shoe isn’t designed for heel strikers and this is expected. Some reviews also had the sole start to peel off. Other runners also found that the pull tab on the back of the shoe was uncomfortable and dug in on their achilles.
